Audio Systems: 1999 pontiac grand am, spindle motor, band eq

I have a Delco am/fm CD player 7 band EQ in the grand am. the problem I have is when I put a CD in I get a E20 and the CD comes out. Any help would be appreiciated. Oh yeah! I did try a CD cleaning disc wilth the same results.The rest of the unit works great.Thanks

The problem with using a cleaning CD is that the laser has to SEE the disc before the spindle motor will turn to clean the lens in the laser. This process is called focus search mode. Any dust, dirt or smoke on the lens and the disc won't spin and you will see the error codes show up on the display. You may want to pull the stereo out of the dash and use a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol and gently rub it on the lens of the laser pickup to clean it. To gain access to the laser you will also have to take the top cover off the stereo to see the CD player assembly, on many CD assemblies you will see an access hole to clean the laser lens.
