Audio Systems: back lighting on a bose car stereo, mazda millenia, mazda dealership

Question
I have a 1996 Mazda millenia with a bose stereo system..it's an AM/FM cassette with trunk mounted 6 CD changer, power antennea..
It works well except at night I cannot see the numbers. The back light is not working.any idea how I can fix this without spending a boatload of cash at a Mazda dealership?

Answer
Pete,
Depending on the model of the stereo the problem may be that the back light has burned out, or if the display is a VFD (vacuum florescence display), the power supply for it may be dead or on many of these VFD's I find defective solder connections on the pins of the diplay tube. If you give me all the numbers off the sticker (model numbers) I can look up the service info and tell you what type of display this stereo has in it.
