Audio Systems: 2001 Honda Accord 6 disc changer, honda accord ex, antenna cable

Question
I have a 2001 Honda Accord EX with an in dash 6 CD changer that is not working very well. When I put a CD in, it just says DISC, which means there is an error, but the CDs it is rejecting, it played just a few weeks ago. This is a problem that has gotten progressively worse, and I even cleaned the laser yesterday to no avail. I have read the manual and called the dealership, but I have not figured anything out. So, I was wondering if you could help with this?

Answer
Jackson,
The problem may be due to the laser pick up being slightly out of alignment or very weak. I have repaired quite a few of these in dash 6 disc changers and in my opinion they are all cheaply made. In most of them the laser pick ups do not last as long as they should. A fairly inexpensive solution to the problem would be to install a trunk mounted CD changer with an RF output along with a small remote to control the changer. The output of the changer will come into your in dash stereo by the antenna cable, you will have to tune your stereo to a certain station.
