Audio Systems: Infinity Radio Tuning, jeep grand cherokee, factory antenna

Question
Tom,

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an Infinity Radio system. It has AM/FM, CD, Cassette and graphic equalizer functions.

My problem  ... a few months back, the reception just went out.  I could no longer receive all the various stations I use to get  .... and now I only get 3 or 4 local stations that have very strong signals.

I am missing out on many of the stations I would usually be listening to.  I can not get any AM stations and this really hurt during the baseball season.

Is this a fuse problem or is their a tuning process that I may need to do?

Any help you can give me would be great!

Thanks,

Answer
Greg,
With the AM not receiving at all and the FM receiving only strong stations, I would say that an antenna problem is the cause. You may want to purchase a cheapo antenna from Wal-Mart and remove the factory antenna wire from the stereo and plug in the test antenna and hold the antenna outside the vehicle. next, tune in some of you favorite stations and see if you can receive them now!. If you can receive your favorite stations, you will now know that you need to replace the factory antenna.
