Audio Systems: JENSEN MARINE RADIO, jensen marine, casset player

Question -
Model number MCC8320 displays "cd" with no remote cd player plugged in. The casset player works (both channels) but the radio does not play FM or AM. This problem occured while playing the radio in FM mode. The radio starting swithcng between the radio station and CD mode. Now it displays "cd" all thi time.

I suppose that you do have this stereo installed in your boat? If you do, the problem may be that some water has leaked onto the circuit board causing corrosion on the main board. You may want to open up the stereo and check for water damage.

The radio is a slide out unit. I take it with me when I leave the boat for the day. I've only used the radio about five times since I have owned it.It is out of warranty so I need help. No water has touched the radio
maybe a little salt air but it should be able to handle that. Any suggestions ?

I don't think that I have the schematic for this stereo, however in some cases the schematic for the stereo will be in the back of the owners book that came with the stereo. You may want to take a look at the electronic switch IC circuits that switch the stereo from radio mode to CD mode when you insert a disc. This IC may have some corrosion on it causing the unit to lock up.
