Audio Systems: F150 stereo 6cd changer, factory models, laser pickup

I have a 2003 f150 truck that had a stereo with just aplain tape deck in it and recently bought a 6 cd changer for it eveything works but the cd changer in it was wondering if i needed to have a different harness for the new stereo.These are both factory models.The new 6cd changer tells me that the slots are full and I know they are not and it also will say that it has a cd error.Or do I need to take it out and have it serviced?Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.                                                                Fred

Have a service shop take a look at the changer, the lens in the laser pickup may need to be cleaned. If one disc is loaded and the laser doesn't see it, the unit will cycle through all slots and give the error message.
