Audio Systems: sony car stereo with 10 disc cd player, sony car stereo, sony model

The radio works fine but the cd player only shows the disc # then skips to the next # then the next# and so on till it goes thru all the discs. It than says error-02. Can you tell me whats wrong and can I repair it? It's a Sony Model (radio) xr-C5100 with Model cdx605 cd 10 disc changer. Thanks John

The error code that is displayed is a code that comes up when the laser is at fault in the pickup assembly. The problem may be due a very dirty lens in the pick up. Since the laser can't see the CD's a cleaner disc won't work either. You can try using a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol and gently rub the lens with the Qtip to clean it.
