Audio Systems: Radio help, fm radio frequencies, sony cdx

I just bought a used car stereo.  A sony cdx-4000x.  The CD player works fine, but both AM and FM radio frequencies do not work.  If you turn up the volume you can hear static like the antenna isn't plugged in.  I checked the antenna with an older radio and it worked fine.  Any suggestions?

It sounds like a defective connection that is common to both the AM and the FM tuners. You may want to take the stereo apart and look at the area on the circuit board where the antenna plugs into the circuit board.
