Audio Systems: CD palyer gets hot and stops working, cd palyer, cassett

Question
I have a 2001 F250 with AM,FM,Cassett,CD player (OEM). When playing a cd after aboud 5 or 6 minutes of play, it will stop playing. After about 10 seconds it will start again, 3 or 4 minutes stop, 10 seconds start, then stop and go to radio.  When I take the cd out it is pretty hot.  It will play cassetts ok but they get pretty hot also.  What can I do?

Thanks

Answer
Van,
It's possible that the audio output IC is over heating. Have you added or changed any thing in the sound system, such as adding speakers? It is possible that one of the speaker feed lines may be shorted to the chassis somewhere causing the amp to over heat.
