Audio Systems: car radio/stereo system repair, 300zx nissan, radio stereo

I have a 1987 300ZX nissan. The stereo power won,t turn on unless you put a cassette tape in but  you must eject tape before you turn off stereo or stereo will not work. somebody turned off stereo and cassette will not eject and am/fm radio will not turn on but lights are on but on/off doesn,t work.

 time to replace the unit, it sounds like its just a simple "over time" malfunction with no imediate or cheap cure, you could remove the unit and try to find a repair shop to remove the tape and trace down the cause .. my best suggestion is to replace the unit with a good aftermarket one that fits your budget and sound needs, even average level CD units start under 100 dollars now, and you can do the install your self with a harness adapter and install kit .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know
