Audio Systems: RCA input cables, rca cables, input cables

Question
"I am installing an aftermarket amp to my stock 2000 chevy s-10 stereo but i dont know where to hook up the RCA input cables to. Is there some kind of adapter i need, I also need to know which of the colored wires on the stock stereo is for the remote lead that needs to go to the amp.

Answer
Wes,

i never recommend installing aftermarket amps/subwoofers when using a factory installed unit , it makes the wiring complicated and can get expensive when installing large components, also you lose alot of sound quality and control over your system.. now with that said you need a input/output converter from radio shack or other store usually about 20-25 bucks this will take your speaker wires * you have to run a jumper set from each speaker so for s10 4 sets* to the box then it has a place for RCA cables to plug in .. now about your 12volt accessory wire which is the one you need to tap into .. check out www.streetdreams.com/wires they should have a color code for you ... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
