Audio Systems: Jammed CD player, battery cable, electronics shop

Question
Tom,
I response to your question - the CD worked for 2 years initially. It also worked for 1 month after we took the car in for a general service (we hadn't requested any work on the CD so I don't know why it suddenly started working again).
I presume I'll need to take the dash off again to pull the connector out - or is there an easier option?
Many thanks for your help.

Question -
I have a Sanyo FXCD-550 (self-installed) which has CD stuck inside it. The unit does not switch to CD mode and it also will not eject (there is no ticking noise when I press the eject button). When the problem first started I received an error message which referred me to a dealer.
Is there anything I can do to try fix it or does it sound like it needs to be trashed?
Answer -
Grant,
Try pulling out the connector to the stereo and pushing it back in, this may reset the stereo and allow the CD to come out? If this does not help the CD will need to be serviced or at least checked out by an electronics shop that knows how to service car CD units. After you self installed the CD player, how long did the unit function?

Answer
Grant,
You can try removing one battery cable for about 10 minutes or so and then reconnect it to see if it resets the stereo. If it doesn't reset and work normally your stereo will need to be serviced.
