Audio Systems: cd player memory, ford crown vic, ford stereo

Question
Hi, I have a 2000 Ford Crown Vic. It had a Ford factory am/fm cassette player in it and I replaced it with a Ford factory am/fm cd player from Ebay. Everything works fine except cd memory. The memory works if you do not turn the car off. If you turn the car off it will always go back to track one. Radio stations stay programmed. Am I missing a seperate memory wire for the cd player? Is this a problem going from cassette to cd player or is this the way Ford cd players work?  Thanks, John

Answer
John,
If the stereo holds station memory then nothing is wrong with the CD stereo. On many Ford stereo CD players if you turn off the stereo and turn it back on a reset signal will be sent to the CD section that will make the laser pick up move to the start, (track one) to play the CD.
