I am having problems with my stereo blowing fuses when i turn the volume up.  I have two 760w pioneer amplifiers with 2 12 inch aluminum cone pyle subwoofers.  1000 watt rms 2000 watt peak and a 1 fraud capicitor with a 8 gauge wire running for the battery.  I drive a 1994 olds achieva and have already put in a bigger alternator in.  I am using AGU fuses about 30 to 40 amps but they constantly blow on me.  is there any way to stop this?  Thank you

you should be running 3 caps one for each pioneer .5 or better and atleast a 1.5 farad for the 2K watt amp .. this could be the cause of the fuses blowing because of the massive drain under high volume, the extra caps should cure your problem but i would recommend using 4 gauge cables since you have so many watts and also a good battery such as optima yellow top or other deep cycle battery ... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks

Im sorry i ment to say that those are the powers of my subwoofers the 1000 wat rms and 2000 watt peak. and i already have a 1 fruad cap that supplies both amps.  do u think that if i put 4 gauge wire in htat would stop the fuses from blowing?  thanks again

Answer
Chris,

no problem , bumping up to 4 gauge wire will definantly help the system and improve performance.. it also might cure the fuse problem , just make sure you run new 4 gauge grounds for your amps and keep them under 3 feet in length so you dont have as much resistance ... try this if you still get the problem , i would try using a bigger power dist block say 60 amp that will definantly fix the problem, and also add a 40 amp + inline fuse to each amps power feed just as a double precaution ... let me know if you need anything else

thanks
