Audio Systems: 2002 Xterra Factory AM/FM CD Changer, nissan xterra, solder connection

Question
Hi,

I own a 2002 Nissan Xterra with a factory AM/FM 6 disc in dash cd changer.  Everything worked fine until a few weeks ago when the radio/player went off for a few minutes and then came back on.  Several days later it did the same thing but would not come back on until the vehicle was restarted.  I ejected all the cd's and used the radio for only a day.  And know it went off complete and has not come back on yet.  Is the radio/player toast?  Or is there something else going on with the radio/player?

Answer
Brian,
It's possible that your stereo has a defective solder connection, most likely at the power input connection. The problem may also be that the display itself is going out and you cannot tell if the stereo is on or not? If you can, try to pull the stereo out of the dash as far as you can and with the key on, and then lightly tap on the case to see if the display will light up.
