Hello Tom...My 1990 corvette cd player will not play the cd...clicking sound repeated after loading...must hold the ejection button in for disc to eject and then I have to pull it out before it recycles...no error message shown...can this be fixed or exchanged somewhere?...Thank you for for time and expertise...Bill
Answer -
Bill,
The clicking noise is most likely due to a cracked load gear. I see many of these units in my shop. The complete CD player unit inside the stereo will need to be replaced/exchanged due to no replacement gears for these units. if you give me the complete model number off the stereo, I can quote you a price for the CD deck assembly.

Answer
Bill,
You will have to remove the stereo from the dash to see the model number on the sticker. The CD assembly isn't hard to install, it simply plugs into the main board with one cable and is held in place with four small screws. You may be able to do this yourself, however if for some reason the new CD unit is defective you will spend more money than you need to for sending the assembly back to me. When I have a Vette stereo and replace the CD assembly I like to let it play for several hours just in case something is wrong with the new assembly.
