Audio Systems: VW Fox Alpine Tape Deck not powered, vw fox, volkswagen fox

Question
First of all, thanks so much for taking the time to read and/
or answer my question.

I just recently purchased a 1988 Volkswagen Fox with an
Alpine Tape deck "installed" but when I turn the car on and
try any of the knobs/switches, there's nothing, no power no
clock no hissing in the speakers.

The master fuse in the car's fuse panel's okay so I tried
looking in the back of the system to see if there's any fuses
that have blown, but I can't successfully look at or even
revmove the system from where it's mounted, there's lots
of wiring and such in the way and i'm wondering how to
take it out/get it to work.

Thanks,
Kyle

Answer
Kyle,
I have many service manuals for VW car stereos and tape decks dating back to the early 70's. Please give the complete  model number of your stereo after you remove it from the dash. I don't have a service book for your year vehicle so I can't tell you how to remove the stereo. You may be able to figure it out by looking closely at the dash and trim and remove any screws that hold the trim or console in place. You might also want to purchase a repair book at any large auto parts outlet for your vehicle.
