Audio Systems: installing a radio, light buld, infinity gold

thank u ... they both have the same kind of holes 2 square one round and then what i would say is a ground.. but i really have no clue the only difference is the one in the van the suare are top bottom and on ethe new one they are next to each other.. i was going to take the one out of the van but i wanted to ask should i discontect the batterie to the car or take out a fuse or anything(i am deathly afraid of being shocked i hate to screw in a light buld with out unplugging the object :) but im a cheapscate before im afraid ..

I have a 88 dodge caravan and when i bought it the radio was blown . well i bought another one  but i dont know if i can put it into my van it comes from chrysler and looks to be the same size but i can not find a date it was made to find out if it will fit into my van .. i was going to unhook my other one and see if this one would hook up but i know nothing about radios so i dont know if i would have to cut somthing or if i have to have things turned off if i would need to get anything from a dealer  etc.. how do i know if this one will fit into my van .. i found your web site by chance and liked what i saw an fig i would give it a chance before i have to spend a whole lot of money for somthing i can get help and pos do myself.. thank you marcia .. ps i know the make of the radio in my van is a chrysler  and the model of the one i am trying to put in is a chrysler, infinity gold  model # 5269480

The only true way of knowing if the new (replacement) stereo will fit/work is to look at the connector/s on each stereo. If the jacks on the stereos are the same then the new stereo should work ok!

If the plugs and connectors are the same size and color you should be able to simply plug in the new stereo. don't worry about getting a shock, you shouldn't with the 12 volt supply. be sure to connect the ground cable and to plug in the antenna wire.
