Audio Systems: Bose OEM From 2000 Nissan Maxima, nissan maxima, work bench

Hello Tom!
I have the factory Bose CD/Cassette stereo in my Nissan Maxima and the CD player in the head unit just stopped working. When I insert a CD the display reads "CD ERR" and just spits the CD back out. There's no noise of any kind. Any idea what could be wrong with it?
Additionally, for a while now I noticed my CDs were getting scratched and couldn't figure out how as I take pretty good care of them. Guessing it has something to do with the problem.

Most likely a mechanical misalignment isn't allowing the CD's to go into the full load position. This misalignment may be why the CD's are getting scratched. The only true way to know what the problem is caused by, is to remove the stereo and look at it on the work bench while attempting to load a CD.
