I am receiving an E-99 error message on the control for my Sony CDX A30 cd player that is installed (aftermarket by previous owner)in my Audi.  Is there anything I can to fix this problem, or do I have to take it to a dealer?

The error message may be due to a fault with the laser pick up assembly. The problem could be that the lense is very dirty and the laser isn't reading the CD. You may want to try a cleaning CD, if it doesn't work a manual cleaning of the lense may need to be done. The number one cause of error messages is from a dirty lense, this will happen more often if you or someone riding in your vehicle smokes!

The CD player that you have in your vehicle, is it a 6 disc unit that is mounted in the trunk? I don't have a service manual for the Sony model that you gave me so I don't know what kind of player/changer that you have. Let me know.
