Audio Systems: No AM radio reception, audi a6, radio reception

Question
I recently purchased a 2000 Audi A6 with Bose stereo system. All works well with the exception of AM radio reception. All I get is static, no AM stations will come in. FM reception is adequate. According to the car's seller, the antenna is in the back window and is not functional due to window tinting added by the car's previous owner. Is this a reasonable explanation? If so, what can be done to correct the problem?

Answer
Greg,
If the antenna is built into the glass and the windows are tinted it won't have the sensitivity to pick up AM stations exept the very strong local stations. You only recourse is remove the tint or have installed an external telescoping antenna.
