Audio Systems: system, farad capacitor, 4 ohms

Question
Hi, i just installed a head unit, a 300 watt multi-channel kenwood amp and one 12" pioneer amp.  When i crank it up it doesnt even hit hard and if i'm at a stop light with it blasting, the car studder a little when i get going again like there is no power. what could be the problem? is the car not providing enough power? The car is a 2000 mazda protege dx 5spd.

Answer
Jon,

you really shouldnt have the problem with just 300 watts, before you go buy a .5 farad capacitor go by your local auto zone , or adavanced auto ect.. and have them do a charging system check which checks your battery and your alternator its free and they can tell you if either or both need to be replaced .. now if everything checks out fine i would advise buying a .5 farad capacitor and wire into your system to give it some extra power and keep it from draining your car... now about the lack of hard hitting bass , make sure your amp which should be only running the amp is wired to the proper ohm for the subwoofer such as 4 ohms www.crutchfield.com has some great pictures that explain how to wire up subwoofers with certain ohm raitings , also make sure your amp is adjusted properly such as the crossover is set to LOW and the freq is adjusted around 80 .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
