Hi Tom,
Thanks a lot for the tip, i did all the checks you mentioned, the 12Volts is present at the rear speakers terminals.
I checked inside the amps in the speaker units and the FETs look a bit suspicious, i replaced them without any success, kindly let me know which processor chip may need to be replaced.
Best regards

Hi Tom,
I have a 96 Nissan Maxima Bose car Stereo System with small power button.
The system switches on fine but no output on all the speakers, i checked the fuses in the car system and found them intact, kindly advice on what else to check and likely fault. The rear speakers have inbuilt amps.
Also let me know where the stereo amplifier is located pls.
Please HELP.
Answer -
Lekan,
With the Bose stereo systems the amps in most vehicles are mounted with the speakers, however on some you will find the main audio power amp behind the stereo within the dash. If your stereo has NO sound a syou mentioned you may want to first check bu using a volt meter and measuring the connector the goes into the rear speakers. The powered speakers require 12 volts to function. If you have 12 volts at the speaker, the audio process chip inside the head unit may be defective.

Answer -
Lekan,
The low level audio output to the speaker amps may be muted out due to a faulty part inside the head unit. Please give me the complete model number of your Bose stereo unit. I can look over the service data and give you some ideas on what to look for.

Answer
Lekan,
I have been very busy over the last few weeks, however I did look over the service data and the most likely cause of the no sound problem would be a shorted or activated mute line. Each of the four or six outputs are preamped by an op amp for each channel. Each preamp has a mute input line that is feed by a commom connection from the mute circuit. I forgot to write down the location and part number for the mute capacitor. I can have the location Tuesday for you.
