Audio Systems: Factory CD Player, cdr recorder, gmc van

Question
Have 97 Gmc Van with factory cd player that shows
error each time I insert a Music Cd-R,disk ejects
them out will not play them. I have tried several
recorded CD-r disk they all will not play, I have
bought a disk cleaner kit ,thruoghly clean each
disk. These same CD-r disks have played just find
before in the same player. Also Regular Name artists CD Play just fine in the player. Whats
wrong ? what can be done?

It sounds like the laser pickup in the CD unit is weak. A weak laser will not be able to give a good clean focused beam to read the CDR's. CDR's are recorded with a very precise laser and the tracks are very close together due to the nature of the CDR recorder unit. A nornal CD music disc isn't recorded as precisely as the CDR's and they will play OK. The only recourse for your CD player is to have the laser pick up replaced.
