Audio Systems: Sony Compact Disc Changer XR-C300RDS, nissan 200sx, rubbing alcohol

Hello Tom, hope you can help.The radio and cassette on my player are fine. The CD player will not play. It appears to be the 'reset' button which will not reset. When I activate it, it looks as if it is going to be ok as the 'load'signal appears but a few seconds later this disappears and 'reset' sign flashes. This happens all the time. The cd's are correctly installed in the changer. Any thoughts?.My Nissan 200sx is 7 years old and the cd player was installed at manufacture.Thank you.

I assume that the CD player is a remote mounted unit? The problem may be a mechanical fault or the laser lense in the CD unit may be dirty. You might have to do a manual cleaning of the laser pickup lense by using a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol and gently rubbing the lense in the pickup to remove any dust/dirt on it.
