Audio Systems: Kenwood detachable face CD player, volt supply lines, ford mustang lx

Question
1991 Ford Mustang LX - "never had these problems before."

My car stereo is hooked up to an equalizer, amplifier, and four speakers.  It has just started to turn off/on by itself.  When I'm listening to a CD or radio station, it turns off, then back on interupting my listening.  It has also started to make a loud frequency noise.  What can be causing both problems?

Answer
Peter,
The cause may be that a defective connection exist in the power input section. I have also found on many of these stereos, defective connections on the connector of the front panel assembly on the main board. The load squealing noise may be due to the connection that is arcing! You may also want to take a look at the 12 volt supply lines to the stereo.
