Audio Systems: Pioneer super tuner III, control circuits, volt meter

Question
I have a pioneer super tuner III model # keh-p2800.  It worked great for a couple years.  I installed it myself no problem.  Now it comes on, but no sound from the speakers on the radio or cassette.  I was told it's probably the amp inside the stereo.  I'm pretty good with electronics.  Can you suggest how to replace the amp if you think that's the problem?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Jeff,
A quick test to do on the amplifier/s to see if they have a power problem is to use a volt meter. Simply measure each speaker with the black meter lead to chassis ground. If the amp/s are OK still you should measure about 6-7 volts DC on each speaker wire, both feed and returns. If you measure about the same voltage on each speaker wire the problem may be in the audio muting control circuits. If the amp/s need replacing you will need a low wattage soldering iron and solder wick to remove the amp IC/s.
