Audio Systems: Crossover problems, dodge dakota club, woofers and tweeters

I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota Club Cab w/Infinity stereo system.  I bought a new receiver, rear speakers, and component speakers(front door), once installed everything worked well except for the component speakers, according to advice from Crutchfield (where I bought everything)I cut the proper wires for the speakers coming out of the factory amp and correctly wired in the crossovers and then the woofers and tweeters.  When system was turned on nothing on the front speakers.
   I then took the crossovers out of the picture, and just hooked up the woofers and it worked, called Crutchfield and they could not explain it!!!

 crutchfield is the best place for information if it can be done and done right these guys have the resources.to let you know how... but sometimes the "by the book" doesnt always work out,and "freak" occurences happen but the problem to me might have been a bad crossover, that is the only thing that i can think of..
