Audio Systems: stereo speaker positionong, rabbit ears, rca jacks

Question
I have a RCA home stereo with 2 30' x 11'    speakers and 2 very  small speakers, an old VCR, and one 20" cable ready TV. The room is about 14' x 14'. I would like to put all the speakers on the wall, I need the floor space. And I would like to connect my TV to the stereo. I love good sound.
All help is greatly appreciated!

Answer
Dear maryjane,

Mounting speakers on the wall is carpentry, not audio...;-) There's not much I can say about that.

You need to tell me a bit more about your TV, VCR, stereo, and TV feed.

TV: what kind of audio outputs does it have? Generally, audio outputs are red and white RCA jacks. The yellow one's for composite video. Does it have an "S-video" connection?

VCR: confirm that it has "antenna in" and "antenna out" coaxial connections. It should. Just make sure they say "antenna in" or "ant in". We'll assume the connections are coaxial.

What kind of stereo receiver do you have--make and model? How old is it? Does it have either "video" or "AUX" inputs?

How do you receive your TV signal: cable, satellite, over-the-air antenna/rabbit ears?

Once we have some more specifics, we'll have you up and running in a jiffy.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
