Audio Systems: Blown amp to a factory head unit, chevy silverado, output transistors

Question
I added an older Blaupunkt amp to a factory Chevy Silverado head unit. I used a low line filter to get the high level to RCA...worked great for over a year. Then the amp seemed to be fryed...it gets really hot and the system no longer provides audio.

Would you recommend a new syaytem or just the amp. Or is the amp ok and the problems lay elsewhere?

Thank  You

Answer
Sean,
The amp is overheating possibly due to one or more shorted output transistors inside the amp. Several things can cause this, 1-overdriving the amp. 2-excess volume. 3-changing or adding more speakers. 4-DC power surge. Depending on how much you purchased your amp for, you may be better off purchasing a newer amp.
