Audio Systems: Nakamichi Stereo Receiver Problem, authorized repair service, receiver problem

Question
We have a Nakamichi Stereo Receiver 1 which we purchased used this past winter.   It has worked great although the remote sometimes does and sometimes doesn't work.     Yesterday it just stopped working but when the power is turned on the green power light flashes instead of being a steady on.  I can't find a reset switch or fuse.   Is it worth repairing?

Answer
Dear Carl,

To answer your question first: YES! Nakamichi is one of the best audio component manufacturers around. If you've really bought it within the last year, it should still be under warranty. Check your user's manual for warranty repair instructions. Simply call the dealer where you purchased it. If they're not an authorized repair service, they'll most likely take it to a repair service for you. You can also check Nakamichi on the web at www.nakamichi.com.

Now, what's wrong with it? Generally, when the power light is flashing, you have a voltage overload somewhere in the amplifier's output section. If there are no user servicable fuses, you have to take it in to the shop for repair.

BTW, remotes are pesky performers. Every one I have has had "one day it works, the next it doesn't" issues. I always check to make sure the batteries are securely seated. If they're not dead, that usually does the trick.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin
