Audio Systems: how to install a new radio in a 1996 Mazda RX-3 Precedia, mazda rx 3, mazda dealer

Question
My son wants a new CD-radio installed in his Mazda RX-3 Precidia (1996)  I have installed many units in my Toyotas so am familiar with standard installations.  I am getting older and don't want to have to get too involved with this Mazda.  Question: is the factory radio easily accessible to remove, or does it require a skilled technician - I don't want to tear up my son's car?  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Tom,
If you have the repair book it will tell you how to remove the factory stereo. I'm not real familiar with this vehicle. You may also want to stop by your local Mazda dealer to ask how to remove the factory stereo. Most of the Mazda stereos will require to remove several screws to remove the trim around the radio. Once the trim is off all you have to remove is the four screws that hold the radio into the dash.
