Audio Systems: wire coloring for a 1990 mercury sable, haynes repair manual, mercury sable

Question
I'm trying to install a cd stereo into my 1990 mercury sable. The only problem is we don't know what color wiring is which from the old stereo. We have tried to look on the internet for an owners manual to view the wiring, but very unsuccesful. Is there anyway that you could please let me know whatcolor wires are what?

 OK the owners manual wont tell you the codes , usually they are hard to come by but i have some places you can look and that should help you out .. but first i want to give you some advice to make things ALOT easier maybe on this install but if not on your next one .. first off NEVER cut the factory plug off which is what you did * and if you can wire it back on color for color and tape real good* then go by radio shack talk to a salesperson tell them you need a wire harness adapter for 90 model sable should be about 8-12 bucks for the harness .. here is the easy part the adapter's harness is color coded or labeled to match your new units harness so you dont have to guess at the wires you just wire up and then the adapter harness plugs into the factory plug and your done .. very simple , clean and professional .. now dont get me wrong you can cut the plug off and wire in str8 but who would want to it opens up alot of trouble and after you see how simple the adapter is .. theres no competition .. now if you cant wire the old plug back on and most of the time you cant no need to fear here is a website that should have a schematic to let you get everything wired back up www.streetdreams.com/wires/ .. now if they dont have anything you can buy a haynes repair manual that has a schematic in the back for the audio system its not as easy to follow but its definantly reliable you can pick one up at your local auto parts store for around 12 bucks ..but i hope this helps you out if you need anything else feel free to let me know
