Audio Systems: car head unit power button dead, 12 volt, power button

Question
Hi, i have a denon head unit and the power button wont work on the detatchable face. i tested the power when i push the button to the main board on the head unit and its closing the circut there, do you know what might be causing the problem?

Hello Steward,
You first have to determine if both power feeds have 12 volts one them. One will be hot at all times and one will go to 12 volts with key on. On most stereos the yellow wire will be hot at all times and the red wire will be switched 12 volts. If you do have both 12 volt supplies, then something is wrong inside the stereo. You may want to test the regulators on the main circuit board.
