QuestionIn my Acura there is a factory-installed Alpine stereo (labeled 39100-ST7-A000 / 39101-ST7-A010-M1). Attached to this stereo is a slave Alpine CD player (P/N 08A06-142-211, ref no CD2104AR). The slave CD player recently broke; it has power and can load and unload CDs, but it fails to play them. I tried to clean the lens etc, but it seems like the laser itself is broke.
Rather than replace the slave CD player, I would like to send the audio signal from an MP3 player into the stereo unit through the slave CD connection. There is one single cable connecting the slave CD player to a plug at the back of the stereo unit. When I send an audio signal into the Right Signal, Left Signal and Signal Ground pins, I get clear sound from my car speakers. The problem is that the stereo does not recognize that a device is sending audio through the CD plug connection. Specifically, I can't switch the stereo from "FM" or "AM" to "CD" mode. The result is that I get the MP3-audio superimposed on top of the radio broadcast. Needless to say, that is frustrating--I don't want to listen to, say, Metallica and Mozart at the same time.

i'm unsure of your wiring for the unit you want to be a slave but from the diagram you sent i would guess that it needs the ACC and BUS connections made so that the main unit would reconize when the slave is present so it can switch over.. the bus is the one i think will be most critical to the main unit .. i would wire up as many connections that i could from your slave unit to the connector ... just to recreate as much of the "factory" wiring you can .. sorry i cant help you out anymore but if you need anything else let me know
