Audio Systems: M-B Bass Problems, benz 300d, first aid kit

Dear Sir, I have a 1984 M-Benz 300D and I have replaced the head unit to a JVC cd and I am not happy with the bass. There is no bass at all, because if I put the bass up just a bit the Speakers start to pop. I would like to install a box with 2 12' subs but am not sure whether it will work or not since my Mercedes has the fuel cell behind the rear seat and the trunk and there is a metal panel in the trunk to hide the fuel tank. Should I just put one sub in where the first aid kit is located or what would be my other options? Please help Sam

If you havent replaced the oem speakers in the car, they could be shot. You can add 1 or 2 subs with no problem. How many you add would depend on your budget and what amount of bass your looking for. You can also add a ported box and have the port fire through the rear deck, this would help keep some of the rattling down that will occur.
