Audio Systems: no sound, portable cd player, radio cassette player

Question
I have a 1993 Nissan Quest van with the original factory radio/cassette player.  With no prior problems, it suddenly stopped making any sound indcluding static from the radio or cassette. I tried connecting a portable cd player and there  is still no sound at all.  Please advise the probable cause and solution.

Hello Donald,
Several things may cause your no sound problem. 1,defective amp IC/s inside the stereo.  2,defective external amp or no power to the amp. 3,mute circuit activated in the stereo. Any number of problems may cause no output, above are the most common. The solution to this problem is to remove the stereo and send out for service. Please contact me direct for details.
