Audio Systems: cdar cd receiver, volt source, fuse holders

I have an aiwa model cdc-x417YU. low volume out of the speakers, when I turn the volume up the the volume goes on and off, I must turn the volume down until the sound remains continous, also when I put a cd in the power goes off...can you give me an idea whats wrong

It sounds like you have a power supply problem to the radio. It may be a defective connection to the 12 volt source/s. Check all the power connections , also check to make sure that the fuses in the fuse holders are clean and bright along with the contacts in the holders.
