Audio Systems: problem after install, ford cd player, alpine cd

Question
I had an alpine cd player installed in a 1997 f350 ford truck.  the ford cd player worked ok but the player was skipping alot, so I purchased a new alpine unit .  when the installer wired the unit into the truck it did not work and all the came out was a high whine from the speakers.
He said the amp in the truck was bad as he was using the existing amp to run the alpine unit.  So unplugging the alpine and put the ford unit back in and now it does not work also.  It worked  fine before except for the cd skip.  What caused this?  How is it my amp is now bad after hooking up the alpine unit after he wired the harnes up to the ford wiring?
Any help would be great.

Thank You

James

Answer
Hello James,
Who ever installed the new radio might not have been experienced with connecting after market radios to the factory amp. The incorrect connection might have burned up the factory amp! Please give me all the numbers off the radio(factory) and off the amp so I can look over the service manual for you to give you some ideas.
