Audio Systems: no music!, mitsubishi galant, mitsubishi dealership

Question
i drive a mitsubishi galant (96).  i am not able to hear any music, my stereo is on, but no sound comes out no matter how high the volume.  this occured after i was putting the volume up and someone else was putting it down at the same time.
before this the light for the stereo was not turning on (so i can't see what it says at night)and still isn't i don't know if maybe that has anything to do with it, but if that could be fixed too that would be great. thank you, i hope you know what the problem is. oh, i forgot to mention that it is one of those stereos that can come off.

Answer
April,
The lights turning off on the stereo indicates a more serious problem. It could be that the LEDs that light up the radio are burnt out, but this doesn't happen that often. There are only a couple things I can tell you to try. One being to make sure the faceplate is securely on the stereo so there's no chance of a 'broken' connection (per say). The other would be to check your owner's manual for use of the stereo. Make sure there are no options to mute the stereo so that you can't hear anything at all. Unfortunately when something goes wrong with a stock stereo, there isn't much I can say. If you've tried these options and nothing works then I'd recommend visiting your local car audio shop or closest Mitsubishi dealership and having them take a look. Sorry I couldn't be of more use.

Best Of Luck,
Alan
