Audio Systems: No Radio Power, cigarette lighter, honda accord ex

Question
I have a 1996 Honda Accord EX with a cassette player and the stereo and cigarette lighter both went out (together) and it isn't fuses. The anti-theft (red blinking) light still comes on and blinks.

A new radio installed comes on for a few moments and then goes out.

Please help!
Ramona

Answer
Hello Ramona,
To test the power lines you should have a volt meter or a 12 volt test lamp. Your radio will have 2 power sources, 1-12 at all times. 2-12 switched with the key. On this vehicle you will have some breakers/fuses located under the hood. With a new radio installed and then going off, it tells me that some kind of power source fault is the problem.
