Audio Systems: chrysler stereo - tape to cd player, chrysler stereo, jeep wrangler

Question
2001 Jeep Wrangler stereo system.  I purchased a stock chrysler cd stereo to replace my stock chrysler tape stereo.  I thought it would be about a 5 minute job to just take out and replace the stock systems -- never happens.  Anyway, I have the cd player installed and I am getting no sound out of the left side speakers (front and back) and the stereo now flashs a "sp err" (speaker error ?).  Wire splicing, adapter - what should I try to get sound out of the left side?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Steve,

well i would like some more info on your install .. now factory units dont have a harness with them they use plugs that are already in the vehicle so i dont know how you wired it in if the plug didnt match up that is what hangs me .. but either way i would stop by the liabary or auto parts store and buy/rent a haynes repair manual for your model of jeep in the back will have a wire schematic diagram that will tell you the colors/codes and what they are for everywire in the stereo system so you can pan out where the problem is .. without the diagram your lost in a jungle of blue , green , orange and grey wires that go somewhere and do something .. also you might give a ring to jeeps customer assitance line * usually in the back of your owners manual*  they can help you with such things as schematics and specifications ect.. hope this helps you out if you need anything else just let me know

thanks
