Audio Systems: infinity security code, generic code, eclispe

Question
I recently purchased a 98 eclispe spyder and had fm problems. The dealer installed a new system in the car and i really didn't like it. I purchased a stock system like the one that was in my car from ebay and the person that i bought from isn't sure if it has a security code or not ...i'm assuming that it does because mine did .  How would i go about getting the code if the seller doesn't have it ?  Thanks for your help

Answer
Deb,

well before you stop talking with the guy you bought it from give mitsubishi's customer service line a call and explain what you need , sometimes they can give a generic code that overrides any preprogramed codes by owners and sometimes they cant .. but why i said keep in touch with the seller is because he might have to give you the VIN from the car the unit came out of to verify to Mitsubishi it wasnt stolen before they will help you out that is how it works most all of the time .. but if they cant help you out and the guy doesnt know the code its pretty much junk unless you can find somebody that knows how to bypass that function and get it working .. but hope this helps you out if you need anything else just let me know

p.s.  i dont know about mitsubishi but GM has factory units with theftloc programmed with a generic code like 123 ect and those are in the owners manual for any GM ask the seller if he or anybody else changed the code from the stock setting and if not have him look in the owners manual

thanks
