Audio Systems: Radio Problems, radio problems, customer service line

Question
I Can I put a radio from a 2003 Ford Explorer in a F150 Super Duty without any problems?  I had a 2003 radio that had two connectors on the back for two harnesses.  I gave the unit to someone who tried to put it in a Super Duty with one harness.  The unit worked in my Explorer (1998) but didn't have all the features my 98 radio had (cd/tape/AM&FM/RDS/CD Changer.  The Super Duty has one harness and the old radio had one connector. Could you possibly plug that harness in the wrong connector and blow it out?  What would cause the radio from working when it worked in my Explorer just days earlier?

Answer
Shawane,

ok , normally brand specific radios will interchange in a recent year and similar make such as , i can swap out the stock delco cd player from an S10 and put it in a silverado .. the only thing that makes it tricky is when differnt sound packages are used such as an amplified system "bose, monsoon,JBL ect.." now if the unit you want to install has a similar looking plug and they mate up then they should work .. you dont run a risk of pluging anything up wrong because the connector shouldnt fit anyother connector besides the right one so if it dont fit dont force it because it doesnt mate up .. now if i was you and wanted to be 100% sure i would give fords customer service line a ring and ask them if the years/radios/vehicles can interchange and they should be able to give you an answer in a few minutes .. i hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
