Audio Systems: Stereo Buzz, gmc sierra, premium system

Question
I have a 2000 GMC Sierra that has begun to make a buzzing noise in the right front speaker.  It seems to be dominant at high freqency, and can be isolated out if I adjust the balance to the left.  Is this most likely a speaker problem, or an amplifier problem.  Any recommendation on where to look first?

Answer
Hello Ron,
One of several things may be the cause of the noise that you mentioned. 1-a tear is the speaker cone. 2-if you sound system is a premium system that uses separate amps modules at each speaker, that speaker module may be going bad. 3-something in the stereo itself is at fault. To find out what the problem is you will need to swap the left and right speakers around. If after swapping the speakers you don't notice any changes then you will have to look at the stereo outputs.
