Audio Systems: radio shuts off, factory radio, z24

Question
I have a 98 z24 cavalier that I recently replaced the factory radio and speakers. The radio is a sony xplod, the speakers pioneer. The radio cuts off at a certain volume when I try and play all 4 speakers at the same time and continues to cut on and off until I turn the volume back down. Any ideas on why?

Answer
M. Smith,
What you're experiencing happens when the amplifier used to power the speakers overheats. The amp then turns itself off to prevent any damage from happening. I've never heard of this happening with just an aftermarket deck, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. The amp is just getting worked too hard at the upper volumes. So the solution would be to buy a real amplifier (as oppose to using just the deck), or not cranking all four speakers up really loud at once. If you need any more advice please let me know.

Best Of Luck,
Alan
