Audio Systems: mercedes adding a sub, liabary, fuse block

Question
I have a 2004 c230 with a bose system, it has a 9" sub but I was looking to add an amp and sub. I have been to all the local stereo shops and gotten no answers except swap out my stock stereo which is not an option for me. Do you have any advice on how to install an amp and sub on my system?
Thanks, Roger

Answer
Roger,

ok you can add an extra sub and amp and retain your stock setup .. but its very complicated even more so with a factory amp'd system in this case Bose .. also you sacrefice some sound quality and performance as well .. but if your heart is set on it i will give you a list of some things that will help you figure out and map your install .. first off you need a Haynes repair manual for you specific car you can buy one for about 10-15 bucks or try your liabary this will have a wire schematic for your stereo system *hopefully bose* this is where you have to track down the RMS/Turn-on wire/12volt igntion wire this can be ran from the fuse block if you cant find such wire in the schematic for the stereo wiring .. also you will need a converter box * 10-15* you can pick up at radio shack ect.. this will need the + & - wires from 4 of your speakers *maybe more* it takes these outputs and creates them into an RCA input for your amp on the "converter box" .. also you will need the basic amp install kit with wire ect.. for the watt size of your amp ..ok .. now this may not sound as bad as i let on but trust me tracing down the wires are a pain ! that is why the swap from stock to aftermarket makes things much more easy of a platform for upgrading .. but i hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
