Audio Systems: Ford Radio, ford explorer eddie bauer, rear quarter panel

Question
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer with the Bose 5 CD premium sound system.  Never had a lick of trouble with the audio system until the vehicle went into the body shop for repair of right rear quarter panel damage.  The radio worked fine when it went in.  Since I've picked up the truck, the radio acts as if it can't pick up a signal, like the antenna doesn't work or isn't connected.  The cd and tape players work fine.  The body shop has investigated and says that everything seems to be connected properly.  The bofy shop asked the local Ford dealership about it and they have no suggestions, other than some conflicting info about an "Antenna Amp" housed in the right rear quarter panel.  This seems to be a speaker amp.  While the vehicle was being repaired, the battery drained to the point of needing a jump.  Could the jump have done something?  Other ideas?  Thanks.

Answer
Jim,

from the drained batt and the rejump it shouldnt have just made the antenna reception bad if anything it would have fried the head unit itself or the bose amp .. i have never heard of an antenna amp on a factory vehicle but you can purchase antenna boosters through aftermarket .. i dont see a direct connection from how the repair would have affected the reception unless they have left the antenna un connected .. which you say they investigated but i would get a second opinion and have a mechanic or audio shop look at the antenna from both ends where it mounts and where it feeds the head unit ... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
