Audio Systems: removing radio, fuse panel, chevy cars

Question
Alan, how do I pull the radio/tape deck from my 1994 Sable?  I blew the fuse in the radio itself (not the fuse on the fuse panel) and I need to pull the radio out and replace the fuse inside. Thanks.

Answer
Larry,
If you're sure the fuse in the deck is blown, then have a shop remove the radio and replace the fuse. Decks are not designed to be easily serviced. I took a Delco deck apart once and it was wicked complicated. So I'd have somebody else do it in case something breaks it will be their fault and they'd have to replace it. If you're heart is set on doing it yourself, then I'd call a shop as well. I'm not familiar enough with the Sable to know how to remove its' dash panel. Although with Chevy cars it's pretty easy. There are a few screws around the steering column that have to be removed then the dash panel just pops off, although it needs a bit of muscle to do it. The Sable might be the same way, so check around and see if you you can find where the dash is obviously attached. I hope this helps.

Best Of Luck,
Alan
