Audio Systems: Installing an amp in a Bose Premium Ste, cadillac catera, premium sound system

Question
I have a 99 Cadillac Catera. I have the bose premium sound system and want to add an aftermarket monoblock amplifier. I have heard of alot of problems with using an inline converter. Is there a special part that i need to either bypass the factory amplifier or will a standard line converter work for me?

Answer
Brian,

Most factory amp'd systems are a real job to bypass you have to have a really good wire schematic to map out and trace down all your wires .. because once you bypass the amp all the speakers are DEAD until you either re-wire them to a new amp or wire them into an aftermarket headunit .. which the factory wires are very hard to trace down without a diagram.. not about using a converter sound quality isnt as good as if you have it running directly from the RCA on an aftermarket unit plus its easier to make the swap when you do a whole swap... now if you are just wanting to add an amp you can use a converter and an amp to run your sub without messing with the factory amp/wiring .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
